| A group of swimmers has told how a pod of dolphins protected them from a great white shark off New Zealand's coast. The lifeguards were training at a beach near Whangarei on the North Island when they were menaced by a 3-metre shark, before the dolphins raced in to help. full story | ||||

| Watched the interviews with the lifeguards last night, sounds like it was quite the stressful experience. One tried to swim away, but was herded back by the dolphins. Silly man. Of course, after watching that Simpsons episode where the dolphins overthrow Man, I would have been a bit worried with the dolphins. | ||||

| and then the next day there was something on the news about two dolphins (they assume were the same ones from the previous day) were found dead - must have got caught up in some illegal fishing nets and someone had cuts their tails off. Makes me pretty angry. I bet the dolphins will think twice about saving human lives after that incident. | ||||
