Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get rid of a Christmas tree?

It's wrapped in a tarp now and just needs to be disposed of. It's at my old apartment. I have until next Thursday to be rid of it.

The excellently good news is that I have pretty much moved ALL my stuff into *our* place so am VERY happy.

Our place is completely full of boxes, some empty, some full, some half empty ... arggggghhhhhh.

Poor Kall ... his place has been womanised!

Okay, now I know this idea has been tabled before, and rejected every time, but you may be more open to it now.

All we need is a large rubber band, 2 heavy things to anchor it to, a roll of newspaper and a lighter.

Here's the idea: We take the aforementioneds, along with the tree, up to the top of your building.

I will construct a crude slingshot, Junkyard Challenge-style, set fire to the tree, and fire it towards the Dominion Road onramp.

Pros: Huge flaming xmas tree arcing across the sky into traffic.

Cons: Huge....flaming xmas tree arcing across the sky...into traffic.

Well?

Wow!! That sounds like a plan!!!
I think the "pros" win...a bit less Auckland traffic, and the boffins thinking there's been a meteor shower.....

On t'other hand....someone who has a fireplace might like the wood?
or just lay it in a convenient gutter, after cutting off the side branches??

Choices, choices....

Of course aiming it toward Dominion Rd could have his drawbacks considering the building in which I work would be in direct line of fire. AND, I wouldn't want my workmates to find out that the tree came from my place!

Dumping it on the side of the road with a sign saying "free firewood" could be a plan though!

If you wish to cremate it there is always my back garden.

Well we could dig a small hole, 'plant' the tree and then set fire to it while singing christmas carols and drinking.

(Spot the westy hoon)

Wahooo. I remember at my old place in Ponsonby we set fire to our Christmas tree on the front lawn (we had a big lawn). It was brilliant. Lit up real well too.
