| Here's what I have to say is a rather pitiful implementation of Childproofing: ![]() Look at the top, on the bit you push down. To disable the proofing, you have to push the part marked PUSH in. I guess we are assuming the kids can't read. | ||||
| ||||
| Looking at the way society is going, yup. | ||||
| ||||
| Yeah sad fact is a lot of kids can't read. However if it read PSH then the kids would probably know that it's TXT speak for PUSH! | ||||
| ||||
| Hahahahahaha yeah well I could read when I was three (Apparently) so yeah, you have a good point there. ![]() | ||||

| I hate child proof lighters, I get really frustrated with them. Does this mean Im childlike ![]() | ||||
| ||||
| Where is this political correctness going to end? If you have a child around and you are a smoker then put the lighter somewhere safe... after all, you don't leave the toilet cleaner and the exit mould out for the kid to drink... do you? Then again, how about we legislate against anything unsafe and wrap all children in bubble wrap just incase the learn the hard way about something and end up with a scratch? | ||||
| ||||
| I think you would find that if you conducted a study with 10 adults and 10 children and asked them to figure out how to use a few different kinds of childproof lighters, the children would beat the adults hands down. | ||||

| Exactly, so if a responsible parent needs to smoke (and therefore light the smoke) then they can keep the lighter in their pocket or something rather than leaving it for the child to play with. I am looking at the bigger picture and not just lighters here, sure we can make a "child proof" item like a lighter to prevent a child from harming themselves but often it makes the item unusable for adults (and not just physically or mentally challenged adults) but at the end of the day there are only so many things we can make safe. Does anybody have figures on how many NZ children lost their lives or were seriously injured / scared through playing with lighters last year? And then how about some figures for physical (or sexual) abuse of children resulting in death or life long trauma... Which one will be a larger number, I am picking the abuse ![]() So short of wrapping our children in bubble wrap how do we keep them safe? Well how about we take responsibility to care for them and to keep them safe rather than letting them run wild and injure themselves? | ||||

| Hey guys! Lets child proof cars! You wouldnt want your child to find your carkeys and then crash your car somewhere would you? | ||||
| ||||
| Did you guys know that air new zealand wont let you carry more than 2 lighters in your cabin baggage. Extraordinary machine got a warning because she had 6 lighters in her handbag and apparently if will stay on record for life. I heard on the news today that america will not allow any lighters in hand luggage on any flight. | ||||
| ||||
| I got to melbourne and discovered I had 5 lighters...I was most amused. ![]() | ||||
| ||||
| Why would you want to carry 6 lighters on a flight anyway? Weird. | ||||
| ||||
| I would have thought that was obvious.... incase the first 5 that you tried didn't work ![]() | ||||

She didnt realise she had that many, she used to just chuck them in her bag and could never find them so she would just throw another in her bag. | ||||
