| For years, from its beginning, John Edgar Hoover ran the FBI He had a file on every political person with whom he had to deal. He got what he wanted. By fear. For the most part his take was power. Money and the posessions that came with it were for the FBI. So while feared, he was for large measure, working for the people. So far a good cd. 11 cds | ||||

| As I get more into it, I find that he was more and more of an egotist, Turned into a real pain in the butt. He hated Communists. This made him and McCarthy natural allies in the 1950s when "Tail Gunner Joe" was searching for a way to be reelected. I am not to the point where he recruits Ronnie Reagan (then president of the screen actors guild) as a junior G man to fink on his membership. | ||||

| So by the looks of it Double G and Reagan were the only 3 who could get the country so low in Financial distress that it was noticable. Interesting. | ||||

each night I pray for the safety of the president. Could you imagine if Halliburton were running things?

| Halliburton was where Cheney worked before becoming VP. They have already admitted price gouging the US govt for about 200 Million. | ||||
| ||||
| let an NZer help you then.. maybe this might help a little bit?? http://www.motherjones.com/news/feat...we_455_01.html I just search for Halliburton on google man ![]() | ||||

| With all the cash coming in, why would Cheney want to quit the war? I cannot think of a single reason. The news media, of which I have been trying to join, but am not yet in the group, got a private showing of Farenheit 911. The NY Times has stated that the fundamental thread of the movie is based in FACT verifiable from the record of the administration. Local politics is a contact sport in San Francisco. Call an election and many will run, more will comment and there will be much roudiness in the local pubs. There is always some bleeding. Lots of abrasions and good times had by all. Being an unofficial shit disturber is no good, I strive to be an official one. | ||||

| But are the events in Iraq a real war or just a cash cow for Halliburton and others? You have to wonder about it when a company (Halliburton) that had Vice Pres Cheney on it's board of directors (until just before the election) has the contracts to supply the US armed forces with their fuel, their advanced supply bases, their water pruified water plants etc. To me it sounds a bit like a backhander... or even jobs for the boys... or even (to use stronger terms) a bribe / payoff. I suppose that many kiwis and others outside the USA have a slightly different news source and we sometimes get comment from independant reporters like Robert Fisk rather than just the embeded journalists that are being nursemaided around the 'battlefield' by their CIA guides being shown only what propaganda will add to public opinion for the 'war' back home. Has anybody else noticed that as soon as the woman in some of the prision abbuse photos was put in front of a court the information in the press dried up? Could it be that the powers that be didn't want us to read in the page 1 headlines that she was only following orders? I am just glad that Ed is on this site and sharing his opinions about the unfortunate situation many of his country men and women find themselves in when their "elected" (I might do a thread on the flaws of the electronic voting machines in the future) officials deceive them and wage war on another country in the name of world peace and WMD when really it is about the control of oil supplys over the next decades. | ||||

The Bush agenda was to drop the American credit so far into the hole that there would be no money for social programs. Iraq provided the hole. So he has begun the death of Social Security, Medicare and any other welfare program available. (remember the fight when the Clintons wanted socialized meds? Part of the fight is a continuation of that). While driving up the debt with the war, he has accelerated the process with tax cuts. In the US, 60% of all money producing items, stocks, bonds, land, etc is owned by 1% of the people. They are getting the vast majority of the refunds. The military is bassically mercinary. Most joined for education bennies. Bush has cut military benefits at every turn. This guy has been a disaster. From my view. If I had 20 mil then he would be a great success. Maybe. Depends on the quality of the Labotomy. No, we are getting the news but the ignorance rate has risen with the Bush assendancy.

| You have to wonder about the motives of people like Bush and others in his power base. How can one group be so greedy and make so many miserable with their actions? And then they wonder why there are racial tensions and crime (to steal for food). It makes New Zealands problems seem small by comparison. At least we have a wellfare and hospital system... it might not be perfect and have a few holes that people can fall through... but it is there as a back stop. Unfortunately it sounds like the almighty USA is on a path to social destruction from the inside ![]() | ||||

| Please do not take anything I say as pontificating. Hang on the ride is a rough one. 1. The difference between the first world and the third world is the middle class. The middle class will suffer most. 2. This born again christian may well have armagedon in mind. We are working on a "baby " nuke and congress has given Bush first strike with nuke permission. This was a part of the WMD cra p that gave him permission to go into Iraq. 3. Rome fell when they began to use mercinaries. We now have no draft. 4. Private mercinaries (from Halliburton) are being used in Iraq to, among other things, avoid the body count. He has pissed off the world community. Lied to congress, the people and the UN. The list is endless. | ||||

| Continueing with the cd. In the later disks he goes a bit off speed. If someone was mentioned in a sentence with a "commie", they were an associate (with commies) from then on. He was a bit Shrub like in that he was not hampered by truth. He hated MLKing. He investigated Peter, Paul and Mary. Joan Baez was on file. He did not like JFK but found a soul mate in LBJohnson. For years, the rumor has been that he had a wardrobe full of evening dresses. This is not borne out in the cd. Rather he seems to be a workaholic with a massive collection of porn. | ||||
