| The kids, Eddie, Briall and Mo are a set. Monday Briall went on a two night camp out with the school. They went to Calistoga (hot springs, mud baths and a side trip to Jack London's wolf house. The family was disrupted while she was gone and now we can be back on track. | ||||

| SOunds like fun. I had so much fun on my school camps. And while I think about it, I didn't enjoy school while I was there, but now I know what working is like, i'd far rather be back at school! | ||||

| When Rose and I met back in (yee gads) '61, her grandmother was housekeeper for the priest in Calistoga. What pleased me about the trip was that she could get away from the brothers, if even for a couple of days. Eddie is 13, Briall (aka Bean) is 10 and Morgan (aka Mo) is 9. She loaded up on the extra things at school. Guitar, violin, basketball, yearbook. All of which is a statement that she wants time with her crowd. If you come to northern California, make sure to visit the Wolf House. http://www.parks.sonoma.net/wolfhouse.html Oh, Jack London was an author. I know a lot of our authors, but I do not know those from NZ. Help me! | ||||

| So Ed, how many grandkids do you have? Do they live near you? I think its cool you seem to dot on them as much as you do! NZ AUthors... umm errr I cna't think of many at the moment, Barry Crump, he wrote some stuff.. someone else might have a better idea. Damn I canno think of that crazy ladies name that wears the coloured wig and writes the great kids books! When I think of it I will tell you. | ||||

Footrot Flats is ours too, but I am unsure if that counts as an author or not. Its more a comic. But I do like to tell people that Wal is what all Kiwi males are like, its kinda funny ![]() http://www.oneil.com.au/footrot/ http://www.oneil.com.au/footrot/ch_wal.shtml

| I have 2 children. Kimberly and David. Kimberly (Kim) has an MFA in textile arts with a minor in math. She is a lecturer at SFSU San Francisco State University in Native American Studies, a board member of California Poets in the Schools (CPITS) and does Oragami. http://www.ifold.org/PCOC_2000/team_pcoc.htm has a photo of Kim. She does basketry. And uses it to teach Basket math. The geometrics can aid in understanding theoretical concepts that are normally difficult. David is involved with computers and works in the Kansas City Missouri area. David has no children. Kim has three children. Eddie, Briall (pronounced bria) and Morgan. They live down the street. About 500 feet away. | ||||

I do dote and I would rather talk about the kids than just about anything else. Peace

| Thank goodness. When we speak of jobs (another running post), I think of Kim and her situation with work. She has notice that she will not be rehired (whatever they call it) come the fall semester. AND a note from the office of the president of the university congratulating her on fantastic work and great student evaluations and looking forward to a long relationship, etc. Not to worry. Stanford University is offering twice the money. Oregon State is offering good money and relocation allowance and TENURE!!!! But it is still absolutely odd. | ||||

| Sounds like two areas of the campus aren't in sync with what they want to do. But if she has job offers somewhere else then theres not much to worry about! I sometimes think that that type of thing (being made redundant etc) can be a blessing in disguise. A mate of mine had had this job for years, he did it well (well I think he did) he enjoyed it, but then someone else brought it and then made them all reapply for their jobs (reducing the positions so someone had to miss out) he ended up missing out, he went through a period where he had jobs that wern't really him but now hes ended up right in his element, and doing something that challenges him far more, and he is a happier person. That wouldn't have happened had he not been made redudant he would have just continued doing wha the was doing. | ||||

I have been "disestablished" and have the oppertunity to apply for a job in the new structure. The bit that stinks is that as soon as I was able to a position description I discovered that I am doing ALL of tasks. ![]()

It must be that time of year, cos a mate of mine is going through it at the moment, they are changing things around and he has to reapply for a job. But apprently its a good thing cos he will get a different title and a better one, and so he can get paid more, and hes not worried, so I am trying not to be for him.
