Default After Bush

We had 9/11 and many of us were shocked. For years I had been saying that not all of the world loved us. But to have a disaster show this was harsh. To those who lost family, devistating.

Then to have our president "moon" the rest of the world and invade Iraq, with half the country dreaming of Rambo or Chuck Norris was not benifital.

Many of my fellow americans think in terms of who can throw the beer bottle further in a bar. This line of thinking ended for many of us when the announcement was "General Quarters, General Quarters all hands man your battle stations, this is not a drill".

But now with Bush leaving, we have to recover. The respect of the world, respect for our institutions, each other and ourselves.

One place to start is to not buy our friends.

Any other suggestions?

Off the top of my head, my first thoughts would be that the America should act fair to everybody (and not just itself and Israel), that it should respect the rulings of the United Nations and generally be a good neighbour to one and all.

At the moment the current regime act like they are the half cocked lynch mob in a bad cowboy movie, ie they think they are doing the right thing but they have only listened to one side of the story and are acting with out balance. And (in my opinion) there are a lot of people on this planet that resent that arogance.

The annoying part is that Joe Average Americian ends up with the same label as the lynch mob even though they are trying to have their voices heard when they try and speak out against the regime.
Condolences to you Ed (and others) for having an unelected retard for a leader.

All that you say is true. Some Americans present themselves in the likeness of Bush, Dumb as shit, anointed with cheap cologne and treating the world like a quarter cat house on a drunken Saturday night.

The part about Israel is true, with or without Bush. They have had a free run for a long time. And part of the official foreign policy violates the federal law.

ie. Nukes

If a country is not a signator to the non prolitheration of atomic weapons, the the US is not to have ANY relations with that country.

ie USS Liberty

This has been a thorn in the side of US vets since 1967 and a coverup for every administration since.

ie 10 billion a year in aid to now go to war with Egypt.

This goes back to buying our friends

ie Harry Truman made the statement to the King of Saudi Arabia that the US would not oppose the formation of Israel because there were not a lot of Arabs in the US that voted.

Now there are more moslems than jews. Perhaps it is time to re evaluate their political stands. But most of our politicians have shown a tendancy, no, more a preference to avoid confronting Bush on any issue.
