Just found the forum, lots of good info. Coming over to NZ on the 6th May and going to travel on the South Island. Any tips for how to get around? I hear that using a camper van and parking in remote places is possible. Is this just hype or reality?

Welcome Having only been to the South Island once, I really can't help you on things to do and see. But a lot of tourists do rent campervans, don't really know the rules and regulations for where you can stay the night, but most towns have campgrounds where it wont cost that much to park the night.
