Baking? Me? Have you seen what our cooking thread is called? Kall's kitchen. That should give you enough of a hint that I'm not the chef in our household!

Admittedly though, pre-Kall days I have been known to bake wicked banana cakes and scrummy ginger crunch.

Having never been to the US I can't recommend any good bakeries over there sorry.

Since I am anti-carb, I am happy to report that I heard that tons of bakeries are going out of business due to the recent Atkins craze.

My carb-eating friends seem to like Au Bon Pain.

My Uncle went on the Atkins diet. He was told that if he didn't do something about his weight then he would probably die. He tried every other diet and then found the Atkins diet. It has worked wonders for him. He has now lost enough weight that he can exercise again which is all good. It is concerning though that he has to take so many supplements because of all the foods that he can't eat.

My Uncle and Aunty went on the Atkins cruise as well. Flew over to the States and went on a cruise to somewhere and the only people on it were people that were on the Atkins diet and all they fed them were Atkins approved meals.

He's eased off it now so occassionally eats potatoes and bread but it conscious of not going back to his bad days.

He said the thing he missed most was potatoes.
