Can you explain to me in full detail, how birth control pills work?

Do I look like a doctor to you? Sheeesh.

Go to the doctor, get a prescription, go the chemist, pick up your prescription, go home, open the packet, take out a pill, put it in your mouth, swallow (with water preferably). Then you have some rumpy pumpy and all things going well (the pill isn't 100% effective, so the professionals say) you don't get pregnant. Repeat the pill taking process every night until they run out. Take a break, then start all over again.

Now, I could have explained this in full medical detail but I couldn't be arsed doing a google search for it.

If enough people post to this thread about contraceptive pills, and talk about contraception, google should target the right ads to the magic box...

Quite simply... THEY DON'T!!!!! I got pregnant twice on the pill and have two little girls to prove it LOL

I don't profess to know everything. I'm just willing to listen to people's gripes/questions and provide some sort of answer, in most cases my answer probably won't help at all.

I was reading one just the other day. A women wrote in saying about how she was being harrassed by people asking her for money and asked what she should do. The "agony aunt" told her that she shouldn't be so frugal and to give them money ... what a stupid idea - that would just encourage those people to ask the woman for money every time they saw her, and because she had given them money before they would expect her to again. I'm guessing that if she stopped giving them money they probably wouldn't appreciate it too much and would harrass her even more.

Stupid agony aunt.

What kind of situation was the woman in? This sounds all too familiar!

Chemist? They're called pharmacists here in the states. If pharmacists are chemists, what are chemists?

We call a Pharmacy (the shop) a chemist. The actauly person who does the Pharmacy stuff is called a pharmacist. So therefore a chemist is probably still a chemist when referring to a person.
