If they really wanted your contact details, they could go to an isp and get it.
Ahhh Xtra once had the crazy idea to charge for each email sent over their system. When asked by a reporter how many emails were exchanged over the Xtra servers in a day the staff member stumbled.

Why???

They can't count the number of emails let alone figure out who to charge for each one.

These days there ae so many people on the net that logging an IP address and having it actually recorded by your ISP is a dead fluke or they are already watching you (CyberStalking)

Oh and I'd suggest to WW that the contract you hold with him must abide by NZ law. Freedom of speech can not be limited by what he puts in his Terms and conditions.

um i beg to differ
having worked for various isp's its actually not differcult at all
xtras helpdesk did not have access to it as it is iutsourced to a call center company but they can track a customer via IP if they actually WANT to as i have been rung up by one of their system admins before lol ( long story)

a number of other isp's have simple interfaces where you just plug in the IP and it will come up with the current customer logged into that ip and the previous logins as well

if required to they could probably dig out emails etc as well if the police required such thing

that said it has to be a pretty good reason for them to fuck around so much they would track an ip and customer for say dos attacking and issue warnings to them but to grab emails it would have to be a pretty serious investigation like kiddy porn or something otherwise they would be greated with a nice " look fuck off i dont have the time for bullsht like this" from the admin

even with a dos attack unless it is a nz isp your chances of getting action are slim to fuck all

given that any net terrorist worth his salt will jump about 8 hops at the very least if they are about to take down any semi large server tracking them is a nightmare task. B
y the time an email is sent to the first sys admin in charge of the ip you actually track hitting your server ....they then have to search through their logs and track the ip and provider it originated from.
Then ......email you back ( as they are unlikely to take any real action themselves) then you email the next guy and so on
5 days later .............. the 4-7th guy you email cant be fucked tracking down shit like that unless the dude has taken down the likes of state.gov or some amazingly important site.

overseas attacks from a nz based user aint gonna be resolved as the admin dont give two shits
The best action currently is rocking up on their doorstep with a bat ( this works surprisingly well)

But some newbie noob attacking you via his DSL connection would be easy meat for any isp taking the complaint providing you have tracked the IP
