SEVERE WEATHER WATCH FOR AUCKLAND
ISSUED BY METSERVICE AT 1030hrs 18-Jun-2004

RISK OF HEAVY RAIN IN AUCKLAND THIS EVENING

MetService continues to watch a front in the Tasman Sea which is
expected to move across Northland and Auckland this evening. Strong
northerly winds and rain associated with the front are affecting
these areas.

There may be a short period of heavy rain with the front as it moves
through Northland and Auckland this evening. At this stage,
forecasters think that the rain in Northland will not be significant,
but could be in Auckland where up to 50mm of rain may fall in a
period as short as 6 hours.

Forecasters have therefore lifted the Heavy Rain Watch for Northland,
but will maintain one for Auckland.

This Watch will be reviewed by 5pm Friday June 2004
