Hastings is a nice town. It had a reputation about ten years ago for it's crime, but more like petty theft than anything else. Nice wineries nearby at Havelock North. The main patronage will be for fruit picking and that is mainly apples from April-May. Many backpackers in
NZ score some work under the table by fruit picking. They are the clientelle you will mostr likely attract. As you say Napier up the road is the big attraction or wineries in Havelock North.
