I can see how that would be annoying. But from the Hotel's point of view, it is likely they would have turned away other bookings for that room on that day, and becuase you are not going to use it they are probably going to miss out on that business completley.

However I am sure if you explain about the history of the company and your hotel, then the hotel might back down on some of the cost?

However maybe its just something your manager has to accept and bite the bullet and pay becuase they have had to postpone it.
