They leave it at a critical juncture, someone else picks it up, and so on...

If you don't like the way the story is playing out, you can wright in plot twists and surprises to send it in whatever direction you desire.




Chapter one. The awakening.

John opened his eyes, stretched, and looked around the room.
Sunlight streamed in through the open curtains.
By the looks of it, it was about Mid Day. Perhaps one.
Outside, a gentle warm wind blew through the trees and sent waves rippling across the grass.
In the distance could be herd the sound of running water and bird song.

"Where am I?" asked John out loud.

This was not where he expected to be.
