I was born n bred in gisborne which is about an hour from Wairoa, my grand parents an Uncle lived there for a long time. It use to be not so bad but has progressivley gotten worse especailly since they closed down the meat works. My uncle and his family could not wait to get out of the place, it has a bit of a gang problem, and over the past couple of years there have been gang related deaths.
If you like the sound of living on the east coast, Gisborne, Naiper or Hastings would be my pick.
