New Zealanders view of Americans
Your heading gave quite the wrong impression.

The Americans I have met have generally felt very welcome in NZ and found the people generous and accommodating.

The general feeling, from a political perspective, may be quite different. My take on it is that our fortunes are tied to the States but we don't like Bush and we don't like alot of what goes on - but it's the best there is so we have to go with it.

So, as far as being welcomed in the communities you visit and your skills being utilised (quite hard to get a farrier these days I gather) you should have no problems. Just make sure the paperwork is in order before you arrive.
