Cheaper than living in Auckland - and the pay is about the same if you have experience. It has great weather. Working in Auckland is fine - but it's kinda like Gothenburg. Just another city. If ya really want to see New Zealand, consider Hawkes Bay.
Nelson also has a similar climate - and beaches are nearby.
The plusses for both places are the fact that backpackers/travellers are always welcome if they have a strong back to pick apples or skills in hospitality.
Both are central to the wine industry, and have a little culture about them. |
Napier is also known for it's art deco if that interests you at all, they put on tours for people interested in it.
