Never mind leave the country, I'm stuck in my city. I live in my grandparents home in what used to be a great neighborhood. Now our city is bringing in so many low income people (I mean literally advertizing in Philly) and allowing out-of town landlord's to buy homes and rent them out cheap, it is bringing our propety values way down. My home when I got it was worth $100,000, now I'll be lucky to get $60,000 (that's with 4 stories of living space, stain-glass windows, all mahogany woodwork and a 3 car heated garage). If I want to buy a new home in a development or out in the country, you're looking at $250,000+. My home wouldn't get me a down payment on one of those. It seems to me that you have to be either super wealthy or really know how to work the system to get anywhere here. And that is sad. I don't want my children growing up to that. |
