Sounds like two areas of the campus aren't in sync with what they want to do. But if she has job offers somewhere else then theres not much to worry about!

I sometimes think that that type of thing (being made redundant etc) can be a blessing in disguise.

A mate of mine had had this job for years, he did it well (well I think he did) he enjoyed it, but then someone else brought it and then made them all reapply for their jobs (reducing the positions so someone had to miss out) he ended up missing out, he went through a period where he had jobs that wern't really him but now hes ended up right in his element, and doing something that challenges him far more, and he is a happier person. That wouldn't have happened had he not been made redudant he would have just continued doing wha the was doing.
