A couple of days ago I decided to buy the CDs of the group Evanescence.
You know the current trend to download music instead of paying for it?
Well the old adage is true. You get what you pay for.
Downloaded music can be utter shite. Especially when you compare it with the genuine uncompressed article pumped out through some serious CS power cubes.
Well I like this stuff so much that I wanted to know what I was missing and hear the full dynamic range and lost harmonics.
The CDs arrived today.
True to form they are a damn sight better than pirate crap.
Also the booklets and bundled DVD is more than enough reason to buy the genuine article.
...but now the let down.
Fallen 02: Bring Me To Life.
poor quality compression had not only taken its toll on dynamic range but had actually altered my perception of the lyrics.
I had been hearing
"Save me from the dark thing I've become"
It turns out to actually be
"Save me from the nothing I've become"
I liked my version better.
