[Darkling]

Yesterday my boss thought he could smell gas.

we stared blankly.

He said it must have been him.

We laughed and continued working.

5 minutes later someone came into the office an said there had been a gas leak at the other end of the building and that they had to go room to room to tell people to evacuate because the alarm could ignite the gas.

Now my boss had previously worked for the Irish gas board and had been taught to detect the smell of gas from a mile off so we really should have picked up on this when he first commented.


O.K. Everyone out!


15 minutes later the word was spread that some people were on their way with specialist analytical equipment to determine the type of gas and the threat it posed.

As it turned out it was sewer gas and we were all allowed back in not long after.

The sewer smell hung around for a while.
